Rescued rhino released into CNP

Ratnagar (Chitwan), Aug 18: A rare one-horned rhino which was swept away by a swollen river was rescued unharmed from India, and released into the Chitwan National Park (CNP) today, said a CNP official.
Around two-year-old female rhino was washed away approximately 42 kilometers downstream, and dumped at the Indian village of Bagaha in the southeastern area. The animal was found trapped in a sugarcane field in a dense human settlement, said assistant conservation officer and information officer at the CNP Nurendra Adhikari.

The rescued rhino was brought on a truck Thursday evening by knocking it unconscious, he said. The CNP said other four rhinos have also been swept away in the recent flooding. RSS
